Proof of art show attendance
Something that surprised me about the art show was how many people were there. One thing that I enjoyed was how we were only required to be there for an hour.
Portrait contact sheet- 5/10/2017
For this project we had to take portraits of our subject in a variety of different locations as well as poses. Some these photos were taken in a studio that we had to sign up to shoot in. Each portrait had to exhibit a different rule of composition.
White Balance contact sheet- 4/19/2017
In this activity we were asked to set our cameras on auto and photograph a white sheet of paper. The purpose of this activity was to practice with white balance and see the way different light affects your subject. As you can see from the photos, many indoor areas create a orange like color on what should be a white piece of paper. When photographing subjects on my own, I need to make sure I adjust the white balance setting to fit whatever area I'm taking a photo in to ensure that my subject has the correct white balance. When I take my portrait I am going to make sure to take it somewhere with natural light.
Today we had to take photos in the style of David Hockney. To do this one must remain stationary and take multiple overlapping photos as they slowly rotate the camera around. they do this to achieve an almost panoramic perspective while still taking multiple shots.
Contact sheet for final motion project- I had to use sharp action to capture Arturo throwing a baseball. To do this I needed to use a shutter speed of 600.
Panning Blurred Background- Today we were supposed to capture our subject and show that it was moving. To do this we had to rotate our body as we took the photo. We also needed a shutter speed of 200. The subject needed to be sharp and in focus, but the background had to be blurry. The rule of composition used in this photo was framing.
Motion blur contact sheet- Today the goal of our photos was to show blurred motion. We were supposed to capture movement and in order to do this we had to lower our shutter speed to 30. The rule of composition in this photo was framing.
Sharp action exercise contact sheet- Today we had to adjust our aperture, ISO, and shutter speed in order to take a photo of our subject suspended in the air. The shutter speed had to be high, the ISO was on auto, and a low aperture was needed. The rule of composition in this photo was symmetry.
Sequential narrative project-Similar to the previous project, the goal was to tell a story. The difference this time though was that the story was told through a series of photos. A grid of at least six photos had to be filled out and they all had to relate to each other. If you wanted, you could do a serious of photos capturing one moment. This means you could take a burst of photos of someone doing a flip or a jump. In order to do this we were taught how to adjust the shutter speed on our cameras so that multiple photos could be taken fast enough in order to capture the moment.
Narrative project- The goal of this project was to tell a story. We were supposed to simulate a candid photo and make it seem like we captured a moment in time. The top story depicts the immediate aftermath of drunk driving. The second photo depicts Rafael bullying Arturo by slapping his papers out of hands. Arturo is then on the ground picking up his stuff as Rafael points and laughs. The strongest part about each of these photos is the message behind them. Both are powerful things that need to be addressed.
History of Photography
Fun Facts Activity- This week in class, we had to get into groups and make a quiz about facts about ourselves to test the class. We did this as an ice breaker to have everyone get to know each other. Each row hat to set up a kahoot with random facts about their group members. From this activity I learned that I have more in common with my classmates than I thought. I also learned my classmates can do some pretty unique things. This activity also made the room more comfortable which then makes it a better place to learn in.
